Adwaaq

Privacy Policy

Effective August 6, 2026

1–3. Who operates Adwaaq, and the scope of this policy

Adwaaq ("Adwaaq", "we", "us") operates the Adwaaq mobile application and the associated adwaaq.com web services (together, the "Service"), which let people discover restaurants and coffee shops and share reviews, ratings, photos, and comments about them.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the Service, how it is used, when it is shared, and the choices you have. It applies to the Adwaaq mobile app and to adwaaq.com. It does not apply to third-party websites or services that Adwaaq links to.

4–5. Information you provide, and authentication information

When you create an Adwaaq account, you provide an email address and choose a username and display name. Sign-up and sign-in (including password handling) are processed by our authentication provider, Clerk. Adwaaq does not store or have access to your plaintext password — Clerk's authentication infrastructure handles that, and Adwaaq only receives a verified identity token to recognize you as signed in.

You may also add a bio, profile photo, and city preference to your profile, and you may submit reviews, ratings, photos, comments, likes, and saves through the app.

Your email address is used to create and secure your account, for sign-in and verification, and for account-related communications. It is not shown to other users unless you choose to include it yourself in public content.

6, 16. Public profile and public user content

Almost everything you intentionally post through Adwaaq is public and visible to other users. Information you publish through Adwaaq, including your display name, username, profile image, profile details, reviews, ratings, photos, comments, and other content you choose to share, may be visible to other Adwaaq users and to people who view shared links to that content, and should be treated as public.

Please do not include sensitive personal information (such as your address, phone number, financial details, or health information) in reviews, comments, photos, or your profile, because that content is public.

Your email address and password are not displayed publicly. Private messages you send through Adwaaq's chat feature are shown only to the participants in that conversation, not published to other users.

7–9. Information collected automatically, device information, and push notifications

When you use the app, our backend infrastructure (provided by Convex) and our edge network (provided by Cloudflare) automatically process technical information necessary to operate the Service, such as request metadata and IP address, in the ordinary course of serving app data and enforcing basic abuse-prevention safeguards like rate limiting.

If you enable notifications, the app registers a device push token with our servers so we can deliver notifications (for example, about likes, comments, follows, or moderation updates) through Expo's push notification service, which relays messages to Apple's and Google's push-delivery systems as applicable to your device. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings or in the app's notification preferences.

10. Photos and media uploads

Photos you upload to reviews, posts, or your profile picture are stored using Cloudflare R2 object storage. Before a photo is published, it may be automatically screened by an AI-based content moderation service (via OpenRouter, using a third-party AI model) to help detect content that violates our content policies. This automated screening is used to help keep the Service safe and is not used for advertising or unrelated profiling.

11. City selection and location-related behavior

Adwaaq lets you choose a city to browse restaurants in. If you grant location permission, the app uses your device's current position, on your device, to suggest the nearest supported city — your precise coordinates are not sent to or stored on our servers; only the resulting city selection is saved to your profile. You can change your city at any time, and you can deny or revoke location permission in your device settings without losing access to the rest of the app.

12. Chat and messages

Adwaaq's chat feature lets you send direct messages, and optionally photos or voice messages, to other users. Messages are visible only to the participants in that conversation — they are not public content. Message attachments are stored using Cloudflare R2, the same infrastructure used for other media in the app.

13. How information is used

  • To provide, operate, and maintain the Service (accounts, reviews, photos, chat, notifications)
  • To keep the Service safe, including content moderation and abuse/fraud prevention
  • To respond to support requests and enforce our policies
  • To communicate with you about your account or the Service

We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and Adwaaq does not currently use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the mobile app.

14–15. When information is shared, and service providers

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers ("processors") that help us run Adwaaq, and only to the extent needed for them to provide their service to us:

  • Clerk — authentication, sign-in, and account-security infrastructure
  • Convex — application database and backend hosting for the Service
  • Cloudflare — edge network, caching, and object storage (R2) for photos and media
  • Expo / EAS — mobile app build infrastructure and push-notification delivery relay
  • OpenRouter — routes uploaded photos to an automated AI moderation model to help screen content before it is published

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Adwaaq, our users, or the public — for example, in response to a valid legal request or to investigate abuse of the Service.

17–18. Data retention and account deletion

You can permanently delete your Adwaaq account from within the app. When you do, your profile, reviews, photos, comments, likes, saves, and notification settings are deleted, and your stored media is removed from our storage. Messages you sent to other users are not removed from the conversations of the people you messaged, since those messages also belong to that conversation.

To prevent abuse of the deletion and re-registration process, we retain a hashed (not plaintext) record of the deleted account's email for a limited period after deletion. Some information may also be retained where necessary for legal, safety, moderation, or abuse-prevention purposes, or where content you posted was already reported, copied, cached, or quoted by others before deletion.

19. Your choices and rights

You can access and update most of your profile information directly in the app. You can control notification permissions and location permissions through your device settings. You can request deletion of your account and associated data as described above. If you have questions about your information or would like to make a request that isn't available directly in the app, contact us using the details below.

20. Children's privacy

Adwaaq is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your region). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

21. Security

We rely on our service providers' security infrastructure (including Clerk for authentication and Cloudflare/Convex for storage and hosting) and follow reasonable practices to help protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

22. International processing

Our service providers, including Clerk, Convex, Cloudflare, and OpenRouter, may process and store information on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States.

23. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date below. Your continued use of Adwaaq after a change becomes effective means you accept the updated policy.
